This album was getting some play on the local jazz station, so I picked up a copy. I wrote her name on a 3 by 5 card as I drove through the Los Angeles surface streets on the way home from work. I'll admit, it wasn't the safest automotive moment I've had.
Norah Jones has staked out her territory. It's the smoky ballad. The noir love song. Are new jazz standards are being born? She plays the piano and she has the voice. That's just some of what they said.
When the CD arrived, I learned from the liner notes that Norah left Texas for New York City. She didn't really intend to stay. The NYC music scene was compelling though, and she cut a demo CD. You know, people cut demo CDs, and time passes. Maybe nothing happens. Norah's demo CD was a little different. People wanted to buy it. So she made a full-length, 'real' CD, 'Come Away With Me.'
Don't have a cold cold heart. Journey with me to Amazon.com and get a copy of Come Away With Me. by Norah Jones
Special note: When Norah Jones won all her Emmy awards in 2003, this review of her album spiked sky-high the very next week.
