Joe and I are returning to somewhere and we have a choice of vehicles, a low-slung rowboat-like wheeled vehicle and a gasoline-powered bicycle.

First we start to take the low vehicle, but I realize it won’t get us there as fast. So we change to the bike. I ride off, but come back to get Joe. He’s playing a little girl from next door.

As we bike off I hear my sister Anne leaving a message on an answering machine, which has an audio speaker extension in the cornfield so that anyone could hear it. She’s saying that now is the deadline for getting information into publications appearing at the time of the next U.S. Census.

A man on the floor, putting his truck away for the night. He gets out, takes off the truck bed part, closes the doors, then restarts the pickup with a remote button. It collapses down into a compact unit and then shuts itself off.
