Irene tells me Michael is selling his restaurant. The bidding price is represented by a fat woman spinning horizontally, like a rubber band on a wind-up toy aeroplane. When she reaches the top range of motion, about five spins, she’ll spin the other way and the price will go down. As she spins up I ask who Michael is selling the restaurant to. She says “you’ll never guess.” I reach out and stop the spinning fat lady at the highest price.
