Einstein . . . . . may 23 2003 — bookish74.dat

Last night at Dutton's Bookstore in Brentwood California Cristina Garcia read three passages from her new novel, "Monkey Hunting." Readers of Cristina's other two novels crowded the aisles in the front room of Dutton's, one of the last independent bookstores in the area, or perhaps anywhere. Between readings, she took questions from the audience.

As a novelist, Cristina missed her true calling: she's a poet. I haven't read Monkey Hunting [buy at amazon] but based on the three passages I heard her read, you will be well rewarded when you go Monkey Hunting.

Earlier in the day, we looked at the website Thomas Levenson has launched to describe his writing and new book, Einstein in Berlin [buy at amazon] , which has links to a number of complete reviews of his book.
