Hello NYC! . . . . . aug 18 2003 — bookish92.dat

About all the blackout affected here in Los Angeles was the log traffic on my server, located somewhere in Florida. Traffic dropped about a third. Just a one-day blip, and then back to the normal August readership.

Everyone around me is finishing their summer reading and pressing it on me, and some new books have flown in over the transom too. It's hot in Los Angeles and I've been cruising through a lot of reading with no end in sight. Stay tuned, we have a lot to talk about!

Between bouts of technical reading this weekend I enjoyed Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. This is the "prequel" to the popular Da Vinci Code, and follows the adventure of Harvard Symbologist Robert Langdon as he solves a whole series of symbological mysteries left as puzzles in the statutes of Rome. I liked the DaVinci Code a lot better, but I must admit I read through Angels and Demons straight through to the end, and found much to enjoy despite the creepy violent murders that Langdon seems powerless to stop.
