The aftermath of the Beverly Hills library visit continues to abound. I am really enjoying Douglas Adams' last book, The Salmon of Doubt, Hitchhiking the Galaxy One Last Time. But it makes me sad, too. It turns out he wasted a huge amount of time trying to get Hitchhiker made into a film, when he could have been writing funny stuff. There are three great things in this book. Wait a minute, four. No wait...
Second, it is always good to be reminded how wonderful P.G. Wodehouse is. For Douglas Adams, P.G. Wodehouse is the finest writer that ever lived, even more of a genius than Shakespeare. Upon rereading some of Wodehouse's stories, I am inclined to agree that this is true.
Third, Adams' account of the journey to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro wearing a rhinocerous suit is probably worth purchasing the book, but there is also a nice chapter 'for kids only' that my ten-year-old thanked me for passing in front of his eyes. Hitchhike over to amazon.com and fish for the Salmon of Doubt
