I do not in anyway consider myself a “techie”. My brother used to teach me about computer parts and computer software, but to no avail. Eventually, he gave up on me. I don’t blame him.

However, there are several things I love about computers and some types of software. Today, I’m marveling at the efficiency of project management software. I’m a workaholic—busy as a bee. I immediately asked my brother to tell me about project management software when I heard that it can help make my workload easier. This time, my brother indulged me. I am proud to say that I did not fail him.

Project management software benefits include the following:

- Schedules. The software will help its users schedule and assign tasks to members of a certain team. This way, users can see who is doing what task for a project. The progress of the project can also be determined using the software.

- Budget. Allocating resources for certain projects can also be implemented. Through the management software, expenses will be transparent.

- History. Users will be able to keep track of the project from conception until such time the project is done.

I was down with the flu a week ago and decided to read one of the old books stored on my shelf. My eyes rested on V.C. Andrews’ Flowers in the Attic. Without any hesitation, I grabbed it and read it again.

I’ve had this book since I was 13 or 14. I remember almost all the girls in class had their own copy, too. I also remember that most, if not all, of us tried to hide this book whenever we wanted to read it. Looking back, I honestly think that I shouldn’t have had read this at that age. The plot was a little to mature for a young girl of 13.

Flowers in the Attic is a story about a family that once had a healthy and fun relationship. However, their fairytale story has an end. One night, their father died from an accident on his 36th birthday. The mother, who now has to take care of her 4 children, has decided to ask help from her parents. Everything would have been alright; except that the parents have disowned their daughter. The plot goes on to show that the mother, Corrine, had to keep the existence of her 4 children a secret from her dying father. This she had to do so that she can inherit the family fortune when the old man dies. The children stay locked up in the attic for a period of more than three years.

In the attic, the children have learned to be dependent on each other. In relation, their adolescent years were spent with each other. At some point in the story, Chris and Cathy end up having sex with each other.

Incest is a main theme in Flowers in the Attic. Chris, Cathy, Cory, and Carrie’s parents are apparently half-uncle and niece. It just goes to show that incest was to be part of the family “tradition”.

As stated above, this book is a little too much for an adolescent. Now that I am in my early 30’s, I have no qualms about having sex. I do, however, have issues about having sex with a relative. How much more if I were to do it with a brother or a sister? Another thing I didn’t like about this story is that Corrine (the mother) was able to abandon her own children and lock them up in the attic. My goodness! What kind of a mother could do that, right?

V.C Andrews has written quite a nasty novel. However, I must admit that I liked this book despite some of the issues I had. This story is so riveting I couldn’t really put the book down even if I wanted to.

Paulo Coelho is one of the best writers out there. In relation, he tops my list of favorite authors. Reading his novels surely makes me reflect on my own life. The Devil and Miss Prym is one such story.

The Devil and Miss Prym shows a man carrying 11 bars of gold to the town of Viscos. He talks to Chantal Prym in a secluded area. In the forest, the strange man tells Chantal that she and the rest of the village will earn the gold bars if anyone will commit murder in the next seven days. However, the stranger will leave Viscos if no murder is committed. The stranger proposed such a scenario to Chantal because he wanted to know if men were essentially good or evil.

I’m not going to say more details about the story, except for the fact that I loved how Paulo Coelho was able to show Chantal Prym’s unease to the proposition. Her dilemma choosing between good and evil was clearly emphasized in the story.

The Devil and Ms. Prym made me think. What would I have done if I were in Chantal’s shoes? Would I have the heart to plot murder? Would one life be worth sacrificing in exchange for gold bars? Would I not feel sorry for myself if I didn’t commit the murder? A gold bar is a gold bar. For sure, it’s going to take you places for quite a long time, right? These are but few of the questions I had while reading this novel. I may never know the answer, and I definitely would not want to be in Chantal’s place.

However, what I do know is that The Devil and Miss Prym is a great read. It’s thought-provoking and realistic at the same time.

Owning a luxury home is probably a goal that most, if not all, of us would like to achieve. I guess this is especially true for couples who are thinking of finally tying the knot. Why shouldn’t you dream of having your own house, right? Wouldn’t you agree that living away from the in-laws is a gift in itself? Let’s think of it this way—we’ll have more freedom from your partner’s parents… not to mention that you’ll have all the quality time and privacy that you need to spend with your lover.

Home ownership is a big milestone in your life. It is of the utmost importance that you are sure that you want to own such a home. Here are a few things that I’m going to consider if I’m ready to meet with a luxury home builder.

First, I have to be absolutely sure that having a house built is what I want. I’m pretty sure that it’s going to burn a hole in my pocket. Hence, the decision to build a house should be there. Second, I see myself asking for professional help. Heck, I’ll ask for all the help I can get! I’m seriously going to bug everyone I can. I want my home to be perfect. Third, I’ll start looking at the market. I’ll also look for home designs that I find interesting. I’ll probably even visit display home Melbourne sites to check if I can incorporate their interiors to the house I have in mind. Luckily for me, I have brothers who are architects, meaning I can consult them and not worry so much about expenses. Fourth, I’ll be looking at the builders Melbourne directory as soon as my brothers and I have finalized the plans for my dream luxury home. Fifth, I see negotiations under way. My partner and I should definitely discuss all the details with the home builder Melbourne we have decided to deal business with.

When all the negotiations are under way, I think it would be the best time to get a loan from your trusted bank. As soon as you have finalized the detail, it’s the waiting game for you and your partner. From what I’ve heard, it might take a long time if I’m going to pursue the dream luxury home I’ve always wanted. However, I’m willing to play the waiting game as long as it takes. I’m sure that it’s going to be all worth it.

Taking on a new project requires lots of work. If you’re not careful, it is pretty to easy to miss out even the simplest things needed for your project. This is where project management software comes in handy. Having this software can help you in a lot of things like handling budget, documentation, scheduling, communications, etc.

What I like most about project software is that it helps us to easily disseminate information or tasks to members of the team. Lists of things that a project management software does are listing of information regarding the progress of a certain assignment; it also shows an overview of schedules to be followed; and if needed, the software can warn its users regarding risks to their projects.

There are several approaches to be used for a project software. You have the option to implement it on desktop, web,

A project management software can be implemented on various platforms. Project software may be accessed thru the desktop, the web, as a single user, as a collaborative system, or as an integrated system. It all depends on who will be using the software as well as on what the project is about.

We’ll talk about the various approaches to management software on our next post.

Robert Langdon is back. So, I lined up at the bookstore thinking it’s the same page-turning experience I had with The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons. After 30 or so pages, I can’t seem to turn the page anymore. I was wrong. Yeah, Robert Langdon is back… but he’s not back with a vengeance.

First, the plot starts with an invitation to Robert by one of his good friends and mentor, Peter Solomon, to be the main speaker of a huge engagement. The invitation was not done by Peter Solomon himself, just by an assistant, and “knowing” Robert’s history of demise, it would not be very typical of him to accept such an invitation if he wasn’t sure of what he’s getting into. But still, he accepted, went out of his way to just do this “speech” only to find out that Peter has been kidnapped and the person who’s keeping Peter is planning to do the same thing to him, unless he helps him unlock, of course, a code.

This is not your typical cat and mouse chase that we are used to with the first two Dan Brown novels. This book is more of a suspense-thriller-serial killer type of chase because the villian is gorier than the other villians in the two previous books, more so like the villian in Red Dragon. Mal’akh, the villian, is a tattooed, scary guy who is after an item that will bring him great power.

Addicted to The Lost Symbol

My addiction to Dan Brown novels started with the Da Vinci Code. I loved every page of it. I was too engrossed; I didn’t dare put it down. It’s the same thing with Angels and Demons. Needless to say, I grabbed The Lost Symbol as soon as it was released. I must say that The Lost Symbol delivered. It met my expectations. I guess it is also safe to say that it’s actually my favorite among the adventures of Robert Langdon.

Like its predecessors, The Lost Symbol is definitely a page-turner.

The story begins with a scene so mysterious, dark, and dramatic that readers know they’re in for a great treat. By the end of the first chapter, the audience will be full of questions. They might even be tempted to do a little research about the validity of the ritual described in said chapter. Later on, readers will be introduced to the world of Noetic Sciences-another set of questions will fill the curious minds of readers.

The Lost Symbol portrays the world as governed by high ranking officials, who turn out to be members of a very secretive and guarded institution—the Masons. Some might even think that they are members of a cult. Other readers might also question the credibility of the government officials, especially after knowing about the rituals that seem too morbid for the faint of heart. However, the story shows that looks can truly be deceiving. For in the end, these officials were able to adhere to their principles and even managed to save the world from falling into the hands of a malicious and power-hungry character.

Of course, the accomplishments of these officials are nothing without the help of Robert Langdon. With his expertise, this professor was able to crack the codes needed to save the world.

What I love most about this story is that it revolves around the significance of faith, trust, and sticking to your principles no matter the cost.
